DESCRIPTION
K1ll-C0de was a 13-week project for a 3rd-year college game production course. Our team started as 5 members seeking to create a game that would appeal to the competitive fighting game community. We grew to nine people and finished with a full game including two fully animated characters and 3 unique stages.
Roles
Product Owner - I researched fighting games, gathered testing feedback, revised our systems, and prioritized our work so that we could create a final product that would be polished and fun for fighting game players.
Character Designer - I designed and balanced two characters, each with 9 normal attacks and 3 command special attacks.
Documentation - I documented all systems, and created pitch documents as well as I kept upwards of 4 living documents updating each discipline on relevant information towards their goals.
CHARACTER DESIGN
Mac1ntosh
Mac1ntosh is a zoner-type character with the ability to keep his distance from an opponent by controlling the flow of movement through the battlefield.
Mac's normal moves come equipped with an anti-air and multiple aerial and grounded zoning tools.
Normal Moves
Command Normal Moves
Mac's special moves are based around movement and control of a cursor that powerful attacks can be launched from.
Mac's command attacks consist of a fast appearing error to disrupt the opponent, a knock-up to set up for combos, and a ranged projectile to keep their opponent at bay.
AR1ZONA
Ar1zona is a Shoto type character. This was my first attempt at making a character and built to be the game's mascot.
Ar1zona's normal moves include short and mid-ranged melee attacks to be strong in the footsies stage, but also includes a knock-up to create long combo strings.
Normal Moves
Command Normal Moves
Ar1zona's command normals include a ranged projectile standard to Shoto characters, as well as a dragon punch including Invincibility frames on startup so it can be utilized as a defensive or recovery tool.
The dragon punch includes a second input which can be used after activation to extend the attack into a secondary more powerful kick.
CHARACTER DESIGN
For K1LL-C0DE I designed the attacks and abilities for both main playable characters. Coming into the project I had little knowledge of the extensive amounts of frame data related to fighting games, but with a lot of detailed research, I was able to create and tune two unique yet balanced characters from the ground up. Below is a portion of the documentation on both characters' move sets.
